With the tiny home movement, I was intrigued by how efficiently that space would need to be designed for a couple or family. Some of those ideas could translate to a more realistically sized home. Homes that could suit the needs of folks interested in downsizing. Or those that would like to build a home that lives larger than its dimensions. With materials costs and interest rates rising, bang for the buck has become even more important.
BARN CABIN creates highly livable, efficient homes based on simple barn structures using the modern meets rustic aesthetic. BARN CABIN built it’s first home for Stanley near Keystone Lake. Stanley had retired from Colorado and moved back to Oklahoma to be near family. Stanley’s build proved the concept. He was and is extremely proud of his new home. And in Stanley’s words. “I am well pleased with this home.” High praise from Stanley!
Barn Cabins are not Barndominiums. They are traditional, stick-built homes that follow the same work flow and use the same materials as other nice homes. They can be appraised and insured like other homes in and out of nice neighborhoods. Barn Cabins are much easier to work with for lenders. They are built to the same codes and standards (or above) as traditional homes.
Efficiently designed homes cost less to heat and cool. Sometimes that means one HVAC unit versus two. Easy, low-cost solutions like adding a Radiant Barrier in the attic roofing can lower the temps in the attic by up to 30 degrees. Adding foam insulation in the roof structure is an option. Upgraded doors, windows and Smart Home thermostats are available. Interested in Solar or Geothermal? We are happy to discuss adding those systems into your BARN CABIN as well.
