Hi. I’m Gale, thanks for your interest in BARN CABIN. It has been an interesting journey to this point. If you have a minute, please read about how it all got started. read more

OF CABINS AND BARNS

As a kid, some of our family trips to Colorado found us in primitive cabins. Trout from the stream, riding horses in the forest, and s’mores! Growing up on a farm, I got acquainted with the business end of a barn early on. Hay season in the age of square bales helped me understand that farming likely wasn’t my calling (ha!). Advertising proved a much better fit for my artistic talents.

ADVERTISING FOR THE GOOD GUYS

An ad agency I worked for in Denver allowed me to help develop strategies and branding for some really interesting home builder accounts from around the country. One builder was doing things quite differently than most. And for the better. Building homes and neighborhoods that were healthier to live in and better for the environment made good sense. Duly noted!

EFFICIENT DESIGN = BANG FOR THE BUCK

With the  tiny home movement, I was intrigued by how efficiently that space would need to be designed for a couple or family. Some of those ideas could translate to a more realistically sized home. Homes that could suit the needs of folks interested in downsizing. Or those that would like to build a home that lives larger than its dimensions. With materials costs and interest rates rising, bang for the buck has become even more important.

MODERN. RUSTIC. LIVING.

BARN CABIN creates highly livable, efficient homes based on simple barn structures using the modern meets rustic aesthetic. BARN CABIN built it’s first home for Stanley near Keystone Lake. Stanley had retired from Colorado and moved back to Oklahoma to be near family. Stanley’s build proved the concept. He was and is extremely proud of his new home. And in Stanley’s words. “I am well pleased with this home.” High praise from Stanley!

IT’S NOT A BARNDOMINIUM. IT’S A HOME.

Barn Cabins are not Barndominiums. They are traditional, stick-built homes that follow the same work flow and use the same materials as other nice homes. They can be appraised and insured like other homes in and out of nice neighborhoods. Barn Cabins are much easier to work with for lenders. They are built to the same codes and standards (or above) as traditional homes.

YOU CAN GO GREENER IF YOU’D LIKE.

Efficiently designed homes cost less to heat and cool. Sometimes that means one HVAC unit versus two. Easy, low-cost solutions like adding a Radiant Barrier in the attic roofing can lower the temps in the attic by up to 30 degrees. Adding foam insulation in the roof structure is an option. Upgraded doors, windows and Smart Home thermostats are available. Interested in Solar or Geothermal? We are happy to discuss adding those systems into your BARN CABIN as well.

PRIME LOCATIONS AVAILABLE, OR BYOL (Bring Your Own Land)
